Johnsy was a young artist. She lived with her friend Sue. She was suffering from pneumonia. Those days pneumonia was very bad diseases. People used to die because of pneumonia. Same in the case of Johnsy , later on she suffered from a misconception that she would die for sure. There was an ivy creeper in the front wall of her window. The leaves of the creeper were falling very fastly. She thought that she would die as soon as the last leaf of the ivy creeper would fall. That's why she compared her life with the ivy creeper's last leaf.
