i) The state is highly industrialised state. Due to employment opportunities , the migration rate is high.

ii) Land is fertile and irrigation facilities are also available.

iii) The state also recieves a fair amount of rainfall , and is rich in ground water resources.

iv) It is also served by a fine network of communication and transporation.

Kerala state is densely populated because :

  • (1) Flat plains : Kerala has flat plains. It is easy to lay down railway lines or build roads on flat land. Therefore, dense network of transport is available.
  • (2) Fertile soils : Food crops such as rice are grown in abundance to fulfil the basic need of the people. Other crops such as tea, coffee,- rubber, spices are also grown here.
  • (3) Abundant rainfall : Due to abundant rainfall, fields are irrigated. People do not face the problem of water scarcity.
