Why kinetic energy does not change but potential energy changes in latent heat?

Hey here is your answer...

This energy is the latent heat of vaporization. Note that during achange of state, the latent heatabsorbed or released only changes thepotential energy of the particles. The average kinetic energy of the particles remains unchanged and therefore there is no change in temperature.
