why kmno4 is named potassium permenganate..?

coz K stands for potassium, MnO4 for permanganate ion...in chemistry. on the basis of the nomenclature

KMnO4 is potassium permanganate.
To be more accurate the KMnO4 is the symbolic representation of potassium permanganate.
As you know K stands for potassium ions.
Mn ions and oxide ions are also present here.
And it is an age old reagent and it's been given the name permanganate.

Its lso known as bayer's reagent.
