why laterite Soils are infertile

The Laterite soil is not so fertile because there is less content of Humus and the soil is typically nutrient poor. Due to the high rate of weathering, and resulting low charge minerals, the soil is unable to retain the nutrients needed for plant.

Because laterite soils lack moisture and humus due to high temperature and hence micro organisms die making it infertile.
