•The dried leaves do not contain any water.

•Thus they are lighter in weight with lesser mass than normal leaves.

•Being lighter they are easily blown away by wind.

•Moreover, the cells present in the leaves will die, so there will be no transportation of water and nutrients which are required for survival.

Why leaves fall from the tree when they become yellow?

Answer:

Because of changes in the length of daylight and changes in temperature, the leaves stop their food-making process. The chlorophyll breaks down, the green color disappears, and the yellow to orange colors become visible and give the leaves part of their fall splendor.
