While an standard LCD use fluorescent light,an LED monitor use light emmiting diodes(LED) for backlights.And it also have a superior picture quality,but they come in varying backlight configuration.And some backlight configurations create better images than others.

LED backlit LCD display use less power, and they are tinner and lighter .

They last longer than CCFL based display due to the lifespan of the CCFL bulbs...

LED backlit display can have more light bleeding from the sides
