A light ray does retract when it falls on a glass slab. The onky thing is that the angle of emergence and the angle of incidence are the same and the final and the incident ray are parallel to each other.
But, if the incident ray if light is perpendicular to the surface of the glass slab re mfraction of light dies not occur and the light just comes out of the slab as it is.
