The Lok Sabha or the lower house of the Parliament is also known as the house of people. The Lok Sabha members are voted directly by the Indian peoplevia democratic elections.

Lok Sabha also known as house of the people and the Lok Sabha members are nominated through general elections which are held based on universal adult suffrage. Each Indian citizen who is over 18 yrs. of age is qualified to vote. The maximum strength or upper limit of the Lok Sabha is around 552 members.
Of these, around 530 members embody the states, around 20 members embody the "union territories", and 2 members of the "Anglo-Indian community" President. The Lok Sabha's tenure is for five years, post which it is dissolved. A Presiding Officer called the Speaker is nominated by the Lok Sabha from one of its members.The Speaker is supported by the Deputy Speaker who is also nominated by the "Lok Sabha".
