Why lumen is wide in collenchyma and narrow in sclerenchyma

Heya..!

to know why lumen is wider in collenchyma when compared to sclerenchyma, we need to know the basic functions these tissues perfrom.

Collenchyma is made of living cells

sclerenchyma is made of dead cells (mostly)



Collenchyma mostly provides flexible nature while performing mehanical function. it has cell organells and perform regular functions.
inorder to perform transport function (sometimes)it has wider lumen.


but, sclerenchyma is exclusively mehanical tissue these cells are empty.
these cells are found in areas where elongation is stopped. it need not need to perform transport function.
