Why magnesium ribbon starts floating in hot water ?

Magnesium when reacts with hot water displaces hydrogen from it and forms magnesium hydroxide. We can see the bubbles of hydrogen in the reaction mixture. These bubbles of hydrogen stick to the surface of magnesium which makes it lighter and it starts to float.
