here is ur answer

In case of a virtual image, the height of the image, as well as the height of the object, carries a positive sign. Therefore, the magnification is positive in this case. Distances measured on the other side are negative. f, the focal length, is positive for a concave mirror, andnegative for a convex mirror.

Answer:

Magnification gives you an idea of how big or small the image is in comparison with the object.

The sign gives you an idea of whether the image is upright(+ve) or inverted(-ve) when compared with the object

As all real images are inverted magnification gets -ve sign similarly as all virtual images are erect they have +ve sign.
