Gandhi ji had handed a list of 11 demands to the British Govt. and said, if these demands are not fulfilled, he would start CDM.
The govt ignored the demands, he launched CDM.
Later, the govt agreed to the demands and invited Gandhi (INC) for the 1st Round Table Conference.
Gandhi accepted, CDM was called of.
Gandhi-Irwin pact was signed, but all the demands were not met.
Disappointed by this, CDM was relaunched.
This the govt used brutal force to get CDM called off.
INC was declared illegal. Leaders were arrested. (This time only, In jail, decision to form Congress Socialist Party was made by leaders like J. Nayaran, Achyut patwardhan etc).
2nd Round table conf. was held. Congress boycotted it.
Govt agreed to recognize INC as valid again.
Leaders were released and CDM was called off again.
This call off without any profit was the reason why CSP(Socialist Party) was formed, they were disappointed by Gandhi’s leadership.
