It gained world wise attention which gave impetus to the Indian independence movement and started the nation wide civil disobedience movement . When Gandhiji broke the salt laws the 6 : 30 am on 16 April 1930 , it sparkled large-scale acts of civil disobedience against the British Raj salt laws by millions of Indians .
