Maize comes under the caryopsis fruit and it filled with the one seeds dry indehiscent fruit.

It has pericarp and also testa is commonly used to fuse.

The pericarp is also one of the fruit walls which are presented in the maize grain.

Therefore the maize becomes fruit, not seeds.

Answer:

Explanation:The maize grains are called as a fruit and not a seed because it comes from a separate ripened ovary within the grass inflorescence. In case of maize, the grain has a pericarp of the fruit fused with the seed coat.
