plains are the relief features as they are so fertile and densely populated physiographic division. with a rich soil cover combined with adequate water supply and favourable climate it is agriculturally a very productive part of India. the northern plains are the granaries of the country. they provide a base for early civilisations. it's also composed of alluvial soil . that's the reason man's occupation of plains is the oldest and most intense .
