Why manufacturing is called a value added process?

Manufacturing is called a value-added process because, within the process of manufacturing, raw materials are converted into useful goods through various steps. The item is valuable to the target customer and the customer  become satisfied.

The process of manufacturing converts a raw material that has no value into a useful commodity that has value. Therefore, the value of the commodity gets added to it. That is why manufacturing is called a value added process.
