why marble not used in kitchen

Marble is composed of calcium carbonate . In kitchen , we use several ingredients, some of which can be acidic , for ex lemon( citric acid ) , tamarind ( tartaric acid ) etc. when calcium carbonate reacts with acid it forms corresponding salt + carbondioxide + water. Thus marble deteriorates on reaction with acid . Hence marble tiles are not used in kitchen
