\bf {Politics \: As \: The \: Study \:Of \: Power}

\bf {Definition :-}

By power we mean the ability to affect or to control the decisions, policies, values or fortunes of others. Power lies in the capabilities of persons or groups to get things done effectively as intended.

\bf {Marxists \: criticise \: the \: power \: view \:of}
\bf { politics \: on \: the \: following \: grounds :-}

1. They criticise the power view because of their assumption that power in modern societies is not associated with ownership of property.

2. Marxism does not believe that power can be diffused among many competing elites.

3. They also do not believe that power can be exercised in the interest of the whole community. Marxists say that power serves the interest of the ruling class only.

4. Unlike power view, Marxists find unity in political, economic and ideological power and say that it has always a class basis.
