when the masoor   dal seed is split in the middle, the sprouting capacity of the dal is lost.  so it does not sprout.

so do other dals.

Answer:

The sprouting is the process during which the seeds germinate and their shoots came out of the seed and then a new plant comes out. In case of the dal masoor when the seed split up in the center of the seed, It loses its capacity of sprouting and this is also the case for all of the other daals.
