Mercury is used in thermometers because of the following reasons-:
•Mercury remains in liquid state at room temperature.And mercury never freezes.
•And as we know that mercury is a good conductor of heat so it indicates temperature soon.
•Mercury is bright and opaque so we can easily see the Mercury in capillary tube of thermometers.
•It is less volatile.
