Mesonephric ducts in male toads become bigger than those in female toads during the breeding season.

During the breeding season, male toads have dark bigger metatarsal duct or knobs or thumbs on their front legs.

These extra rough patches make them grip or clamp a female toad during the breeding season.

However, the mesonephric ducts return to normal size at the end of breeding season.

Female toads are generally larger in size because of the many eggs they carry.

Females have thinner arms than males, which have stronger, muscular forearms.
