Metal hydroxide are better alternative than sodium hydrogen carbonate for treatment of acidity because metal hydroxide is insoluble and hence it does not allow the PH to increase above neutral

metal hydroxides are basic in nature. The react with the excess acid present im stomach and neutralises the acid amd hence cures the acidity.
