METALS WHEN EXPOSED TO AIR AND MOISTURE LOSE THEIR LUSTRE DUE TO THEFORMATION OF COMPOUNDS .FOR EXAMPLE:WHEN COPPER ISEXPOSED TO SUCH ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION , ITslowly acquires a dull green coating.
