Why modern farming require more cost than traditional farming method

In traditional farming method the low yielding seeds needed less irrigation and the fertilizers used by farmers were cow dung and natural manures. But in modern farming method, chemical fertilizers and pesticides are used which cost high in market, also the high yielding variety(HYV) seeds also cost very much with lot of irrigation and farm machinery is needed for that… In which there is cost also on diesel and electricity.. So according to me these are the reason for the need of more capital
