Why monotremes (egg-laying mammals) are classified under mammals and not under reptiles?

becoz they do have mammary glands

like other mammals however monotremes have single bone intheir lower jaw ,three middle ear mine,high metabolic rates ,hair and they produce milk to nourish their young ones.
