Why more irrigations are required in sandy soils as compared to the clayey soils?

clayey soil great water retaining capacity than sandy soil.but in sandy soil due to less water retaining capacity, the water provided will seep into the ground providing no water to the plants.

The main reason why the plants grown in sandy soil needs more frequent irrigation than the clayey soil is because the sandy soil has less water holding capacity which means that it can not hold the water seepage properly which results in the less absorption of water by the plants
