Why most of india remains dry during north east monsoon ?

as the north east winds blow from land to sea they carry less moisture and are called north east dry winds.As they pass over the Bay of Bengal ,they acquire moisture and causes heavy rainfall in coromandel coast(Tamil Nadu) on the windward side of eastern ghats.
