Why multi cellular organism could not reproduce through fragmentation?

Answer. Multicellular organisms like spirogyra reproduce by fragmentation. Fragmentation occurs mainly in simple organisms. Multicellular organisms are made up of many types of tissues all of  which cannot be regained by the process of fragmentation. Some plants like liverworts have gemmae which give rise to entire organism.
