Why murcery is used in thermeter

Because it is opaque so accurate measurement can be taken.

It does not stick with the tube.

Mercury is the only one in liquid state at room temperature . It is used in thermometer because it has high coefficient of expansion . Hence the slightest change in temperature is notable when it is used in thermometer .
