N2 have triple bond at room temperature where as O2 has double bond therefore O2 can be easily break and reaction takes place where as N2 remains more stable than oxygen . Hence it is less reactive than oxygen.

Atomic nitrogen and atomic oxygen do not dist under normal condition Because each forms molecules N2 and O2 . N2 is less practice than O2 is most gaseous reaction because there is a strong triple bond between the atoms, all the valence electron are in bonding orbitals and more energy is needed to excite them
