no of electron in N=7
and no of electron in N3-=7+3=10
similarly, no of electron in Mg=12
so no of electron in Mg 2+ =12-2=10
so no of electron in N-3 =no of electron in Mg2+
so N3- and Mg 2+ are isoelectronic ions.
