because in NH3 there are free flow of electrons so it does not conduct electricity. NH4OH is a weak electrolyte because it have OH in which there is flow of free electrons

As NH_4OH has the ability to dissociate into ions, it acts as weak electrolyte.

Explanation:

  • For a substance to act as electrolyte, it must have the ability to dissociate into anions and cations when reacted with water.
  • When the given two compound, NH_3 and NH_4OH reacts with water it shows the following reaction:

NH_3+H_2O\rightarrow NH_4OH

NH_4OHNH_4^++OH^-

  • As ammonium hydroxide ionizes and yields cation (NH_4^+) and anion (OH^-), it has the ability to conduct electricity.
  • Thus this the factor accounts for the ability of NH_4OH to act as weak electrolyte and conduct electricity.
