Under standard conditions nitrogen is a colorless, tasteless, odorless gas. It forms diatomic molecules, which means that there are two nitrogen atoms per molecule in nitrogen gas (N2). In this configuration nitrogen is very inert, meaning that it doesn't typically react with other compounds.

First of all you can't see it!!
- Nitrogen is a gas because it is simple diatomic molecule with triple bond between the two nitrogen atoms
- Colourless, odourless and tasteless gas
- Nonflammable and it will not support combustion.
- Nitrogen gas is slightly lighter than air and slightly soluble in water
