Hi dr, gud mrng. .....

● Electron gain enthalpy can be defined as the enthalpy change (or energy change) accompanying the addition of an electron to the valence shell of an isolated gaseous atom and formation of the corresponding anion.Noble gases already have a very stable fully filled electronic configuration.

★ Due to the stable configuration, they do not accept an electron and hence they have large positive electron gain enthalpy.

★ An electron has to enter the next higher principal quantum level which leads to a very unstable electronic configuration.
