Why nominal interest is similar to a simple interest

For every normal interest the annual percent interest is added.By the final closing balance will be the same with simple interest.
Ex: opening balance =10000
interest added = 5 percent
then,
the closing balance will be 10500..
We get this final answer by the formula simple interest ..........
