Nuclear energy is conventional energy. Nuclear Energy popularly is being used to generate electricity. So, Nuclear Energy is being used as a conventional source.
Energy resources are, in laymen terms, classified as Renewable and Non-Renewable and traditionally, all non-renewable resources have been in use since long. So, they are generally called conventional energy sources.
Hope this helps.
