why offspring donot have 46 pair of chromosomes

It is because reduction division or more probably meiosis takes place in both the parent's gametes.Hence only 23 chromosomes from each parent are transferred to the offspring.Therefore it's has 46 chromosomes but not 46 pairs. :)
