why orbital orbital energy decrease with increase of atomic number​

The total energy of electron is its kinetic energy+potential energy .......

now if we think of a positive charge(Q) and negative charge(-q) seperated by some distance R,then the potential energy equals ,

PE= -KQq/R

now suppose the positive charge got doubled and become 2Q ,keeping distance same...then

PE= -K2Qq/R

that is now the potential energy becomes twice as negative as the earlier one.....becoming more negative indicates the potential energy decreases

same thing happens in case of electrons in orbitals ...as atomic number

increases so as the nuclear charge and thus the potential energy becomes more negative ....

thus E of orbital decreases with increasing Z....
