We have cartilage in our neck which helps

This allows air to pass in and out ofthe lungs. As the trachea is made of cartilaginous rings which are of C shape, it prevents the air passage notto collapse when we breathe out air. Due to the presence of rings of catilage, the air passage do not collapse when we breath out.
