Capsaicin is responsible for the burning sensation which reacts with the pain receptors inside mouth resulting the release of pain chemical prostaglandins during the eating of spicy food and our nose and eyes start flowing. While some foods also contain sulfur. This sulfur is released in the air upon consuming and creating hydrogen sulfide gas after air contact. This H2S gas is transformed in to sulfuric acid after mixing with water in the tears. Eyes create more tears to dilute the harmful effect of acid.
