● PbCl4 is less stable than SnCl4 -
- Group 14 elements shows +2 & +4 oxidation states.
- As we go down in a group, stability of +2 oxidation state increases and +4 oxidation state becomes less stable.
- Therefore, +4 oxidation state (and thus SnCl4) is more stable than +2 oxidation state (and thus PbCl4).
