Because the equator is closer to the sun. ... Because the sun's rays hit the earth's surface at a higher angle at the equator. e. Because the sun is always directly overhead at theequator.

In equitorial places ,the length of day and night always remains the same throughout the year and thus the amount of the solar isolation received and reflected remains almost constant leading to lower temperature range.

The equator being located between the two tropics to the south and to the north thus leading the sun to oscillates between the two tropics ,making it to remain more or less overhead throughout the year leading to low range of temperature.
