To form alliances and reduce number of actionable ideas. Ideas are good. Expressing them is good. Debating them is good. But when time comes to act you can’t act upon hundreds of different ideas.

There are 535 members in the US Congress. Imagine you need to reconcile 535 totally different ideas. Forming political alliances at that point would be unavoidable in order to move forward.

1. Every candidates will become Independent if their will be no political parties. So their will be no one to make promise to the people about major policy changes etc.

2. Functions like contesting elections, putting forward different policies and programmes, etc. are performed by political parties only.

3. Emergence of representative government is linked with the rise of political parties. Large societies are now in need to collect their views and to present it to the government.
