Why political theory is important in studying political science?

Political theory is the study of political ideas and values like justice, power and democracy that we use to describe, understand and assess political practices and institutions.

Political Theory helps us better understand the concepts that have shaped our politics, including freedom, equality, individuality, democracy and justice. Importantly, Political Theory is the part of Political Science that explores what a better political world would look like and how we can create it.

Man is social animal.At the the same time in the words of Aristotle,man is also a political animal. While living in a society,it is important for the people to accept some values and principle for the welfare of the entire society.

Ideals like democracy, freedom, equality, justice etc helps us in living a good life. Ideals like power, authority, freedom, liberty etc are closely link with the governance of the country. With changing time new ideas like rights,duties ,peace, progress etc become a part of the scope of political theory.

With the origin and development and increasing dominant of the state, the discussion of sovereignty, constitution, citizenship, political parties, pressure groups, interest groups ,local self government etc become a part of the subject matter of political theory.

Political theory systematic studies state, government, constitution and values giving shape to our social lives.

Political theories are the theories about politics and anything about relevant bto politics. Political theory includes both political science and political philosophy.
