Polythene bags are not biodegradable thus they harm the soil and if they are burned they excrete harmful gases like carbon mono oxide ,methane etc.

Polythene bags should not be thrown along with garbage as they are non biodegradable and can mix with the soil but cannot decompose....these when eaten by animals like cows can choke them leading to death....
Also as they do not decompose they can mix with the soil leading to soil pollution...
Also when mixed with the garbage they cannot be segregated and the garbage when burnt emits harmful gases leading to pollution of atmosphere
