due to double displacement reaction of reactants.precipitation occurs.

Precipitation is done in hot and dilutes solution due to the following reasons:

  • Increasing the temperature of a solution increases the solubility of the ionic compounds in the solution.
  • Due to this the probability of the formation of precipitates increases.
  • The molar solubility of the precipitates increases with the increase in temperature which results in the decrease of supersaturation hence increasing the particle size, so we use a hot solution for precipitation.
  • The dilute solution keeps the molar concentration of the mixed reagent low and helps in uniform stirring.
  • Hence, we use hot and dilute solutions for precipitation.
