why production of starch is often used as a measure of photosynthesis although immediate product of photosynthesis is glucose?

in plants food formed in form of glucose
transferred in form of sucrose and stored in form of starch
so by test we can check only stored food easily
so production of starch is often used as a measure of photosynthesis although immediate product of photosynthesis is glucose.
