Why Punjab Haryana is a rice surplus state


saumya90: because rice requires hot and humid climate and lot if water as such it is not possible to grow this crop in the arid lands of punjab and haryana, but irrigational facilities in these states have done wonders and thirst of water has been provided by irrigation . 2) Moreover, the farmers of Haryana and Punjab are very industries and they can do wonders with their mechanized implements.

1) many rivers flow from Panjab Haryana region. so water is available for rice cultivation as rice plant require more amount of water than other crops. soil of this region is good for rice cultivation...
2) Green revolution program run by govt specifically focused on these reagion is also major reason for surplus production of rice in this region.
