Why radius of gallium is smaller than aluminium

It's all due to poor shielding effect of f and  d subshell electrons  and  inert pair effect    is the tendency of the two electrons in the outermost atomic s orbital to remain unionized or unshared in compounds of post-transition metals.

due to this effective nuclear charge of gallium is more than that of aluminium .
hence , radius of gallium is smaller than aluminium
